Dogs (especially puppies) need daily exercise because they have lots of energy and if they don't find an outlet to work it off it usually leads to destructive behavior. It can also lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other health issues.
So you may ask yourself how much exercise does my dog need? Well it depends on a couple of things, your dog's age, breed, and overall health. On average most dogs need 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day but if you own a breed in hunting, working, or herding they need at least 90 minutes although 180 minutes would be ideal.
Alle's boxing breed is a working dog and she certainly has plenty of energy and stamina. So, I try to make sure she burns it off rather its from walking, playing with her Tether Tug, fetch, mind games or swimming. Having Alle being able to release her energy allows her and me to sleep threw the night. Plus there is less barking and Alle doesn't destroy or chew on anything in the house.
Just remember a tired dog is a good dog and no matter the size of your canine they need an outlet to maintain mental & physical health.
