Summer Sun Sense

It has been extremely hot with the sun blazing here in Pittsburgh, PA aka "Da Burgh" and Alle and I are most definitely feeling it. With high temperatures even the healthiest of pets can suffer from dehydration, sunburn, and heat stroke if overexposed to heat.  Which makes it very important to take some extra precautionary steps to protect your dog from these harmful conditions and to keep them cool & hydrated.  Because heat exhaustion can happen at anytime, anyplace, even in your own backyard.

Did you know that 80% of your dog's body is made of water while us humans are only 60% which is why it is easier for your pet to suffer from dehydration then yourself.  They need at least one ounce of water per pound of body weight everyday.  Lookout for symptoms of dehydration such as lethargy, sunken eyes, loss of appetite or even depression.
